KATIA
Studio founder Katia is a Certified Personal Trainer and
Pilates Reformer Instructor with extensive training in Stott
Pilates and more than 15 years in the fitness industry,
including experience as a Personal Trainer and Pilates
instructor. Her B.S. in Physical Education from the University
of Sao Paulo included course work in anatomy, physiology,
kinesiology, biomechanics, nutrition, psychology and teaching
skills. Fully qualified to work with special populations to
address the challenges of obesity, diabetes, asthma and
injury, she also has extensive experience working with
athletes.
"The favorite part of my work is seeing the results on my
clients. And you can see their "inner change" as well. The
BALANCE, STRENGTH AND FLEXIBILITY Doesn't apply only
physically but also applies to your mind. And that is what our
students learn here: to pay attention and not to neglect their
bodies, to honor it every day with the beautiful movements of
Pilates Exercises as a ritual dance in selfdiscovery,
contemplation and gratitude for their bodies.
Their posture improves, and so does their attitude in their
lives. They feel stronger, more confident and happier with
themselves for finding quality in their workouts and
communicating with their bodies!

Tiffanie Matela Ferrer
Tiffanie Matela Ferrer received her BFAin Dance from the State
University of New York College at Brockportin 1995, and was selected
to attend summer intensive training programs with the JoffreyBallet
and American Ballet Theatre. She has studied on scholarship at
Rochester City Ballet, STEPS on Broadway, and Broadway Dance
Center. Tiffanie’s performance credits include Rochester City Ballet,
Ballet for Young Audiences, EglevskyBallet, Upside Down Dance,
MinouLallemand’s OniumBallet Project, Honolulu Dance Theatreand
Ballet Tucson.
Having been first exposed to the PilatesMethod in college, Tiffanie has
been a passionate Pilatesstudent for over 20 years. In 2001, she
received her PilatesMatworkCertification from the Physical Mind
Institute in New York and has been teaching all levels of PilatesMat for
the past seven years at fitness clubs, military bases, and private
studios. Additionally, Tiffanie has taught Classical Ballet, Pointe,
Variations, Creative Movement, Tap, Modern dance, and Stretch class
at dance studios throughout the US for over 15 years. Her dance
students have been selected to compete in national and international
dance competitions. This past June, Tiffanie’s small senior group
contemporary ballet won a gold award at Encore Nationals dance
competition in Las Vegas.
Prior to moving to San Diego, she completed a Pilates Apprenticeship
program in Tucson, and has been teaching private and group machine
classes for almost two years. Tiffanie continues to teach ballet at the
Academy of Performing Arts and is a free lance performer. She is
excited to be part of the teaching staff at The Pilates Room.
Maria Luisa Baylon
Maria recieved her B.S. in Kinesiology with an emphasis in exercise ,
nutrition and health from San Diego State University. Her coursework
included: human anatomy, exercise physiology, exercise science,
physical therapy, group fitness, and nutrition. She has been active
from childhood to adulthood by participating in sports such as
soccer, tennis and marathon running. She has worked as a personal
trainer at PureFitness Bonita and currently teaches group mat based
pilates at the South Bay YMCA and Pilates reformer at The Pilates
Room.
Having been exposed to Stott matt pilates throughout her college
years , Maria grew strongly fond of pilates, appreciating it's amazing
benefits. Now only do pilates deliver results, but also provide the
client with an overall feeling accomplishment and well being. She
includes Pilates based exercises in all her workout programs,
emphasizing deep core strength and body awareness. She's happy
to see the students enjoying their workouts as well as their
developed strength. She motivates students to challenge their
bodies and feel great about themselves.
